IHCL and Ministry of Skill Development Collaborate to Launch Goa’s Largest Hospitality Skilling Centre

 Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Goa, to establish the country’s largest hospitality skilling centre. The initiative aims to enhance employment opportunities for youth in the tourism sector, strengthening Goa’s position as a leading travel destination. The signing ceremony was graced by Honourable Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Pramod Sawant, along with senior officials including Mr. Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, Secretary of Education and Skills Development, and Mr. S S Gaonkar, Director of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Goa.

A Vision for Hospitality Excellence

The hospitality skilling centre will offer specialized training programs tailored to meet the evolving demands of the industry. Courses will include front office management, housekeeping, food production, and food & beverage services, equipping students with essential industry-specific skills. Additionally, the centre will provide internship opportunities in corporate environments, ensuring practical exposure and job readiness.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, emphasized IHCL’s continued commitment to Goa’s hospitality landscape, stating, "For over five decades, IHCL has been at the forefront of Goa’s tourism industry. This skilling centre, in alignment with our ESG+ framework of Paathya, will bridge the employability gap and create a skilled workforce for Goa’s vibrant travel and hospitality sector."

Shri Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, highlighted the significance of this initiative, saying, "Goa has always been a premier tourist destination. IHCL’s initiative will create new job opportunities for our youth, supporting the state’s vision for sustainable tourism development."

IHCL’s Commitment to Skill Development

IHCL operates 47 skilling centres across India as part of its ESG+ framework, Paathya, which focuses on nurturing talent, supporting youth employment, and uplifting families through education and skill training. This latest initiative in Goa further strengthens IHCL’s commitment to developing India’s hospitality sector by creating employment-ready professionals.
