The Government of India has officially announced several major updates regarding the NEET UG 2026 re-examination amid the ongoing paper leak controversy. During a press conference, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that the NEET UG 2026 re-exam scheduled for 21 June 2026 will now include an additional 15 minutes for candidates appearing in the examination.

▸ NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Timing Revised

According to the revised schedule announced by the Ministry of Education, the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will now be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Earlier, the examination timing was scheduled till 5:00 PM.

✅ The additional 15 minutes have been provided to complete OMR sheet formalities, signature verification, and examination instructions without reducing the actual paper-solving duration for students.
▸ New Admit Cards to Be Issued by 14 June

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will issue fresh admit cards for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination by 14 June 2026. Students are advised to regularly visit the official website to download updated admit cards and check examination centre details.

▸ Government Announces Fee Refund for Students

During the press conference, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also confirmed that candidates appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will receive a refund of their previously paid examination fees. No additional payment will be required for the re-exam process.

▸ NEET UG May Shift to CBT Mode from Next Year

In a major policy announcement, the Education Minister stated that the government is planning to conduct NEET UG in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from next year. The move is aimed at improving transparency, security, and examination management after the recent controversy.

Addressing the media briefing, the Education Minister said that concerns regarding a suspected “guess paper” surfaced on 7 May after the NEET UG 2026 examination was conducted on 3 May. The matter was subsequently referred to central investigation agencies, which later confirmed the paper leak allegations. The government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against examination malpractice and irregularities.
