IIM Calcutta Releases CAT 2024 Notice; Registration Begins August 1
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 notification. The registration process for CAT 2024 will commence at 10 am on August 1 and conclude at 3 pm on September 13. Important Dates and Notification
The notification for CAT 2024 was released today and can be found in newspapers and on IIM Calcutta’s official LinkedIn account. The computer-based test is scheduled for November 24 and will be conducted in three sessions. Candidates can choose from test centers spread across approximately 170 cities and will have the option to select any five cities in order of preference. However, the list of cities may be subject to changes at the discretion of the CAT authorities.
Registration Process
The registration for CAT 2024 will begin at 10 am on August 1 and will close at 3 pm on September 13. During this period, candidates must ensure they have a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number for communication throughout the selection process.
Admit Cards and Results
Post-registration, IIM Calcutta will release the admit cards between November 5 and November 24. The results for CAT 2024 are expected to be announced in the second week of January 2025.
Registration Fees
The registration fee is Rs 1250 for SC, ST, and PwD category candidates and Rs 2500 for all other categories. Candidates
need to pay the registration fees only once, regardless of the number of institutes they are applying to. It is important to note that fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Exam and Participation Statistics
Last year, the CAT exam was held on November 26, with 3.28 lakh candidates registering and approximately 2.88 lakh candidates appearing for the exam.
Importance of CAT Scores
CAT is a prerequisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programs at IIMs. Additionally, CAT scores are accepted by a list of non-IIM member institutions, which is available on the CAT website. However, IIMs have no role in the selection process of these non-IIM institutions. Last year, 91 non-IIM institutions used CAT scores for admissions into various management programs.
